The semifinals of the United Cup, a mixed national competition planned by the ATP and WTA as the first tournament of the 2023 season, have been confirmed. 

The six countries that ranked first in the group stage advanced to the finals in Sydney, Perth, and Brisbane, and the United States, Greece, and Poland defeated England, Croatia, and Italy, respectively, to advance to the semifinals. Italy joined the team after recording the best performance among the second-place teams.

Wii Ga Sibiong Tech and Magda Linenette (48th) played an active role and won two victories. In the 5-match mixed doubles match, Hurkatz and Sibiontech perfectly defeated Lorenzo Musetti and Camilla Rosatello 6-1 6-2 to win the final match and face the United States in the semifinals. 

In an interview after the match, Sibiong Tech said, “Honestly, it’s amazing. I don’t know I think winning as a team is better than winning personally. I am very happy that we did it together and that the team effort is definitely paying off.”

Although Italy lost to Poland, they will face Greece, who advanced to the semi-finals with the best performance among the second-place teams. Athletes from each country will take a day off on the 5th and then play the semi-finals in Sydney on the 6th and 7th.
