Professional soccer K-League 1 Jeonbuk Hyundai goalkeeper Song Beom-geun (25) has transferred to the Japanese J-League.

Shonan Bellmare of the Japanese professional soccer J-League 1 (Part 1) announced on its website on the 18th (Korean time) that “Korea’s Jeonbuk Hyundai player Song Bum-keun has joined as a complete transfer.”

Song Beom-geun said, “I am very happy and honored to move to Shonan Bellmare, which has a long tradition and history.”

Song Beom-geun, who joined Jeonbuk in 2018, played 167 games and conceded 140 goals. In this process, he led Jeonbuk’s 4th consecutive league championship (2018-2021).

Song Beom-geun played an active role as the starting goalkeeper, conceding 26 points in 23 games for the under-23 national team and 27 points in 31 games for the under-20 national team. Song Bum-geun won the gold medal at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games. He reached the quarterfinals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Shonan Bellmare is a team based in Hiratsuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It is famous as the club where Japanese soccer legend Hidetoshi Nakata played. As for Korean players, Hong Myung-bo, Han Young-young, and Lee Jeong-hyeop played. This year, they placed only 12th out of 18 teams.

With Song Bum-keun’s entry into the J-League, the number of Korean goalkeepers playing in Japan has increased to four. Kwon Soon-tae plays for Kashima Antlers, Jung Sung-ryong plays for Kawasaki Frontale, and Kim Jin-hyun plays for Cerezo Osaka.
