Baltimore gave up a run in the second inning off starter Kyle Gibson, but rallied for three runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Adley Rutchman to take a 3-1 lead.
But Baltimore tied the game in the seventh when Yoenis Cano hit a two-run double off Gibson. Gibson was credited with the win and Cano with the blown save.
The game went to extra innings. The Orioles made it 4-3 in the top of the 10th on a sacrifice bunt by Adam Frazier and a sacrifice fly by Colton Cowher.
The Orioles went on to win 4-3 behind a perfect game from Felix Batista, who pitched the ninth and 10th innings. It was Batista’s fifth win of the season.
With the win, Baltimore is now 8-2 in its last 10 games, taking over the lead and extending its lead in the division. Tampa Bay, on the other hand, hasn’t been able to break out of its recent slump.
The two teams will now face off at the same venue on the 23rd and 24th. If Baltimore continues its winning streak, the gap between the two teams could reach three games.
