“I’m very happy to have achieved satisfactory results in the team pursuit and individual pursuit, which were my first times together메이저놀이터.”
Kim Do-yoon (Gapyeong) won a double gold medal in cycling at the 52nd National Youth Sports Games, taking gold in the South Central 2 kilometer individual pursuit and 3 kilometer team pursuit.
Kim won the South Central 2-kilometer individual pursuit in 2:29.884 on the first day of the competition, edging out Kwak Do-ru (Daejeon Seojoong – 2:32.805), and then helped Gyeonggi Seon-sal take first place in the 3-kilometer team pursuit in 3:37.750 on the 28th, beating Gyeongnam Seon-sal (3:39.065).
“I was mentally shaken by my fourth-place finish at the National Sports Promotion Corporation Directors’ Championships prior to this event, but I trained hard to regain my composure and win,” said Kim. “I trained on the track at the Uijeongbu Velodrome and focused on uphill interval training before the competition to build my endurance.”
“The hot weather and hills were the hardest part of my training, and I think it helped that I intentionally overexerted myself so that I could push myself to the end even when it was hard,” he added.
Kim credits his father, a competitive cyclist, for inspiring him to take up the sport. “I wanted to become a cyclist because I saw what he was doing. He always taught me a lot, and I think that’s why I got good results.”
“In the individual pursuit at the last competition, I was only in the 2:35s, but this time I came in at 2:29s. My first goal is to train harder and break the divisional record, and if I am selected for the next Boys’ Championships, I would like to win the best player award,” he said. “I would like to thank Coach Ha Jae-min and Assistant Coach Shin Dong-cheol for helping me win the two titles.”
